TESDA and Kabankalan City launched Technopreneurship Programs for Certified Graduates
As part of TESDA
Secretary DG Joel Villanueva’s projects and his aim to achieve inclusive growth
through decent and productive work for Filipino people, the Technical Education
and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) of Negros Occidental and Kabankalan
City held a formal launching program for selected Certified TESDA
graduates who are officially part of TESDA Spesyalista Technopreneurship
Program (TSTP) or Samahang Spesyalista ng TESDA in Automotive Services in Kabankalan
City, Negros Occidental.
The signing of the Memorandum of Agreement and turn-over of toolkits to beneficiaries by TESDA and opening of contact center was on April 02, 2012, during the launching ceremony.
The project aims to assist the 10
TESDA-certified graduates in Automotive Servicing National Competency (NCII) to
form a group and start their self-employment enterprise. TESDA has provided each of them with basic tools to start their service jobs.
The tools will be collectively managed
by the group at the Contact Center in a space provided by Mayor Isidro Zayco at the Commercial Center,
Bonifacio Street, Kabankalan City.
TESDA has also designated a Project
Coordinator to assist the group in developing their entrepreneurial capability.
Other grouping will be formed by TESDA
in collaboration with the provincial and city governments and
Technical/Vocational institutions in Negros Occidental within the year for the
agencies certified graduates.
TESDA LAUNCHED TECHNOPRENEURSHIP PROGRAM IN NEGROS OCCIDENTAL
The
Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) of Negros
Occidental launched TESDA Spesyalista Technopreneurship Program in the province.
In cooperation with the local governments of the province, the program has five
(5) civic-based service aggrupations which will cater technical and mechanical services
to the households and immediate communities. The operation includes House
Repair and Maintenance, Beauty and Wellness, Automotive and Small Engine
Repair/Trouble Shooting, Appliance Repair, and Catering/Food and Beverage
services. As part of the requirements, Spesyalista must be a TESDA National
Certificate Holder II (NC II) and at least 18 years of age.
The agency hired nurturer who is
tasked to identify and coordinate with partners for the support and assistance
required in the implementation of the TSTP, search for and identify the TESDA
Spesyalista that will compose the aggrupation, organize the aggrupations,
orient the Spesyalista and provide appropriate advice that will strengthen the
values, develop and introduce simple and practical methodologies in managing
their self-employment or enterprise endeavors.
TESDA
Provincial Director Lorena T. Yunque believed that the essential component of
the program is skills development, which will nurture the skills of the
beneficiaries who will undergo training on ICT, technical, as well as,
entrepreneurship skills to equip and integrate them with business aptitude.
This program will create
decent jobs, develop team work, demonstrates excellence in service delivery,
organize a nurturing community and develop values and behavior. The official
launching of all aggrupations is anticipated to be formalized by this month of
February 2012 in the said province.

TESDA and the City
Government of Talisay launches the Samahang Speyalista Technoprenuership
Program in House Repair and Maintenance Services in time for its Charter Week
Celebration on February 6-11,
2012. The formal signing of the
Memorandum of Agreement and turn-over of toolkits by TESDA and the official
opening of the Contact Center is set on February 6, 2012, the opening of the week-long celebration of
Talisay City.
With
the support of the City Government of Talisay, as committed by Mayor Doc Eric
Saratan, the project aims to further assist the initial group of ten (10) TESDA
certified graduates in Plumbing NC II, Carpentry NC II and Electrical
Maintenance and Installation NC II form themselves into an aggrupation and
start their self-employment enterprise.
This translates TESDA Secretary Joel Villanueva’s REAL DEAL –TESD
Strategy for Filipinos into reality.
“They
will service the needs of Talisaynon and nearby towns for House Repair and
Maintenance. But I will also promote them with my friends and network”, said
Mayor Doc Saratan. “We will provide
them with the Contact Center- a small office here at the City Hall in
coordination with our Public Employment Service Officer, Mr. Gilbert
Robles. It will serve as their
business office, while TESDA Negros Provincial Office will provide them with
additional training on entrepreneurship, marketing, values formation, IT skills
and teamwork. Hopefully, after three
months, they can already stand on their own feet, and we will start to support
another group”. The Mayor further added.
“TESDA
will also provide each of them with basic toolkits so they can really start
their service jobs. The tools will be collectivelymanaged by the group at the Contact Center”, added
Dir. Lorena Yunque of TESDA Negros Occidental.
“Sec. Joel Villanueva wants us to provide more resources to our graduates
so they can really become productive and entrepreneurial Filipinos.”
TESDA
has also designated a Nurturer or Project Coordinator to assist the group in
developing their entrepreneurial capability.
Other
aggrupations will be formed by TESDA in collaboration with the provincial and
city governments and Technical/Vocational institutions in Negros Occidental,
within the year for TESDA certified graduates.
