TESDA AND CITY GOVERNMENT OF TALISAY LAUNCHES SAMAHANG SPESYALISTA TECHNOPRENUERSHIP PROGRAM

TESDA and the City Government of Talisay launches the Samahang Speyalista Technoprenuership Program in House Repair and Maintenance Services in time for its Charter Week Celebration   on February 6-11, 2012.  The formal signing of the Memorandum of Agreement and turn-over of toolkits by TESDA and the official opening of the Contact Center is set on February 6, 2012,  the opening of the week-long celebration of Talisay City.

With the support of the City Government of Talisay, as committed by Mayor Doc Eric Saratan, the project aims to further assist the initial group of ten (10) TESDA certified graduates in Plumbing NC II, Carpentry NC II and Electrical Maintenance and Installation NC II form themselves into an aggrupation and start their self-employment enterprise.    This translates TESDA Secretary Joel Villanueva’s REAL DEAL –TESD Strategy for Filipinos into reality.

“They will service the needs of Talisaynon and nearby towns for House Repair and Maintenance. But I will also promote them with my friends and network”, said Mayor Doc Saratan.   “We will provide them with the Contact Center- a small office here at the City Hall in coordination with our Public Employment Service Officer, Mr. Gilbert Robles.     It will serve as their business office, while TESDA Negros Provincial Office will provide them with additional training on entrepreneurship, marketing, values formation, IT skills and teamwork.  Hopefully, after three months, they can already stand on their own feet, and we will start to support another group”. The Mayor further added.

“TESDA will also provide each of them with basic toolkits so they can really start their service jobs. The tools will be collectivelymanaged by the group at the Contact Center”, added Dir. Lorena Yunque of TESDA Negros Occidental.  “Sec. Joel Villanueva wants us to provide more resources to our graduates so they can really become productive and entrepreneurial Filipinos.”

TESDA has also designated a Nurturer or Project Coordinator to assist the group in developing their entrepreneurial capability.

Other aggrupations will be formed by TESDA in collaboration with the provincial and city governments and Technical/Vocational institutions in Negros Occidental, within the year for TESDA certified graduates.    (TESDA Neg. Occ.)
